Cheryl & Gary Tilton have owned Gilligan’s since July 2002. When Cheryl left the mortgage business after 18 years, she decided it was time for a change, and owning a restaurant seemed like a fun thing to do...at the time! Having never worked in the industry, it was a challenging endeavor for both. Cheryl runs the daily business while making her famous crab cakes and all desserts.

Garry offers support while continuing to run Tilton construction, a local firm. Through both their hard work and dedication, Gilligan’s Waterfront has become a local favorite as well as a destination for many tourists.



Justine was born in Lynchburg, VA and attended Johnson & Wales in Norfolk where she graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts in 2000. That same year, she moved to Delaware with her now husband, Ryan Betts. Justine gained much experience in other local restaurants before landing her executive position at Gilligan’s in 2004.



Ryan, a Milton, DE local, graduated from Johnson & Wales in February 200 with an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts. After graduation, he moved back from Norfolk, VA to pick up where he left off at the Second Street Grille in Lewes. Betts joined the Gilligan’s team in April 2006.
